Last Friday Room 9 went to Living Legends. We planted heaps of native trees. Room 9 planted the first plant, it was really cool we were chosen specially. We were given these little fertilizer discs to put in the bottom of the holes where the plants will grow happily. We planted 1000 trees and we ran out of fertilizer luckily they had some spare! We had to get our hands dirty because we had to put our hands deep in the holes where the roots will spread. There were a lot of spiders, one landed on Arnia's hand and she freaked out. There were a lot of worms in the holes but that is good because they help the plants grow. The trees were all natives so when they are fully grown there will be a beautiful native forest/bush where the birds will be able to nest and breed and be safe in our environment. The kids in Otatara will be able to play in the bush and climb the strong trees that grow in that forest/bush and it will be a NO HUNTING ZONE! and a NO CHAINSAWING ZONE!
as well. For all this hard work we were rewarded with chocolate and badges saying "I am a Living Legend" which is completely right because we are to the new Bush down at Bushy Point!

Busy Room 9
Hi everyone, next week room9 will be doing the Living Legends we are hoping for a sunny day. Our goal is to plant lots of trees. We also have started to find out about Totem Poles and hopefully we can make our own soon. Next week some of Room 9 children will be going to Polyfest. They have been learning lots of new waiata and a new Haka. In our writing we have been finding out about native animals in New Zealand. Hope you all have a good week and we will catch up soon.

This Week in Room 9
Hi everyone! It’s Jorja and Brayden here this week, we have done lots in room 9. We have been reading about myths and legends of Maui’s adventures. We are learning how to ask creative questions and in math we have been learning geometry. At Otatara school we’ve entered the Meadow Fresh competition. Please can you help us collect the stickers . If we collect a lot we might win money to buy new sports gear or art equipment. From Room 9 :)

Hello parents and caregivers, Caleb Oliver and Arielle here. Caleb & Oliver built a tower over two and a half meters tall. It was very annoying when it fell over. We are wondering why it fell over and what we need to do to make it more stable next time. We loved our 1st week back at school. We have 2 new students in our class and their names are Karlee and Jamie. Karlee likes art and writing, Jamie likes rugby and Math.
