Year 5 camp!

All the year fives can't wait until outdoor education next week!  We are hoping for good weather but really don't care if it rains because our water tanks need a good top up.  Things we are going to be doing: going on a walk,  camp fire, orienteering, biking, crab catching and maybe some things we don't know about yet.

The year 6's can't wait to experience the horizontal bungee, kayaking, flying fox and of course the concrete slide.  We are most excited about trying new things and being with our friends and awesome teachers.

Athletics Day

We all sang Happy Birthday Mrs Donnelly.  This was the start of a fantastic day of athletics.  Everyone was very busy trying their hardest to run, jump and throw.  We also had an adventure playground challenge that we had to complete.  No water was involved in this activity unfortunately.  We all felt like we were on fire as it got hotter and hotter as the day went on.  Overall we wish we could do this every day but we realise that if we did it every day it wouldn't be as much fun.  Photos may follow later.

Our Classroom

We have started an awesome week.  We have been very busy constructing name art.  Bombing bio poems bomb our class, please ask us about them.  We have been practicing athletics  all week long and feel we have improved. In room 9 we  have new  chairs and tables in our learning space.  Please come in and check it out!

Our first week back!

We all enjoyed our holidays but it's great to be back!  We are looking forward to all the challenges this year. We are especially looking forward to camp this term.  Its only week one and we have already learnt about the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi and still have some questions we need to find the answers for.  We have also started learning about graphs and which is the most appropriate to use for different situations.

We are excited to have Mrs Webster, Mrs Mac and Miss Carter as part of TEAM 9.

Welcome to Room 9 for 2013

Kia ora,
Mrs Mac, Miss Carter and I are thrilled to have such a switched on group of learners in our class!  We are excited by the writing and maths skills we have already seen and we look forward to working more in depth with students to realize their full potential.

This year we are focusing on developing self-managing, independent learners and this has started with our classroom structure.  You will notice that we have a range of different furniture and students have been enjoying having the autonomy to choose where they work.

We are also focused on "Team" - Ko au, ko taua, ko tatou (It is me, it is you, it is all of us).  We are focusing on working co-operatively with all class mates, sharing learning equipment and supporting each other to achieve.

Please subscribe to receive an e-mail every time we post an update using the link above.

Nga mihi,

Mrs Webster
